Spiritual solos – by Beverly Goldsmith C.S.B. Christian Science practitioner and teacher.
“Whatever inspires with wisdom, Truth, or Love — be it song, sermon, or Science — blesses the human family with crumbs of comfort from Christ’s table, feeding the hungry and giving living waters to the thirsty“. (Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, Mary Baker Eddy, p. 234:4)
“Be filled with the Spirit; Speaking to yourselves in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing and making melody in your heart to the Lord.” The King James Bible. Ephesians 5:18,19.
“Sing psalms and hymns and spiritual songs to God with thankful hearts.” The Bible. Colossians 3:16 from the New Living Translation
Beverly Goldsmith, C.S.B. composed the music and lyrics of these spiritual solos for use in Christian Science Sunday church services to complement the subjects of the Christian Science Quarterly Bible Lessons.
Beverly, who trained as a classical singer and studied piano at the Melbourne Conservatorium of Music before becoming a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, performed and recorded these spiritual solos accompanied by the pipe organ of First Church of Christ Scientist, Adelaide, South Australia.
The words of the solo Communion Hymn and Love were written by Mary Baker Eddy the discover and founder of Christian Science.
Beverly wrote these spiritual solos to bring comfort, encouragement, inspiration, and healing to those seeking to know God’s love and care.

Great is the Lord and greatly to be praised:
He preserveth all them that love Him.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil,
He shall preserve your going out and your
coming in. The Lord loves the stranger,
looses the pris’ner, executeth judgement
for the oppressed.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil,
He shall preserve your going out and your
coming in. The Lord sends the showers, feeds
the hungry, God preserves His children forever more.
Put not your trust in men in whom there is no
Help. Trust in the Lord, trust in the Lord.
The Lord shall preserve you from all evil,
He shall preserve your going out and your
coming in. The Lord heals the wounded and
broken hearted, God preserves His children
forever more.
Get Wisdom, Get Understanding

LISTEN:
Does not wisdom cry in the street?
And understanding, put forth her voice?
Unto you she calls. Unto you she calls.
Incline your ear to wisdom, and apply your
heart to understanding, for they are life
to those that find them, and health to all
their flesh.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and
lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He
will direct your paths. Then you will know
and understand, God keeps our paths and
preserves our way.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and
lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He
will direct your paths. Get wisdom, get
understanding, then you will find the Lord.
Find the Lord.
Trust in the Lord with all your heart; and
lean not unto your own understanding.
In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He
will direct your paths.
Have you not known

LISTEN:
Have you not known? Have you not heard, that
the everlasting God fainteth not, neither is
weary? He gives power to the faint; and to them
that have no might He increases strength.
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
Even the youths shall faint, and the young men
shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon
the Lord shall renew their strength.
Have you not known? Have you not heard?
Even the youths shall faint, and the young men
shall utterly fall: But they that wait upon
the Lord shall renew their strength; they shall
mount up with wings as eagles; they shall run,
and not be weary; they shall walk, and not faint.
They shall walk, and not faint.
Have you not known? Have you not heard? They
that wait upon the Lord shall renew their
strength. They shall mount up with wings as
eagles; they shall run, and not be weary;
they shall walk, and not faint. They shall
walk, and not faint.
Power belongs to God

God has spoken once, twice have I heard this,
that power belongs unto God. Power belongs
unto God. Power belongs to God.
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, and
not comforted, No weapon that is formed
against thee shall prosper, and every tongue
that shall rise in judgement thou shalt condemn.
No weapon that is formed against thee shall
prosper, and every tongue that shall rise in
judgement thou shalt condemn.
O thou afflicted, tossed with tempest, be
comforted. Be comforted.
God has spoken once, twice have I heard this,
that power belongs unto God. Power belongs
unto God. Power belongs, to God.
God is All

In the allness of God’s love, man finds his
perfect selfhood as God’s own child, forever
completely one with Him. Thus as God’s own
likeness true, man dwells in peace untroubled,
free from fear and sorrow, for omnipresent Love
is All.
Sun, moon, and stars bow down before Him, in
praise to His Holy name. Power and might are in
His hand. God is All-in -all.
So in union sweet and strong, man never can be
parted from God’s eternal presence, for
omnipresent Love is all. Power and might are
in His hand, God is all.
God the Creator

LISTEN:
Cease ye from man, whose breath is in his nostrils,
for wherein is he to be accounted of?
Thus saith the Lord, I am the Lord that maketh all
things; ask me of things to come concerning my sons,
and concerning the work of my hands command ye me.
I have made the earth, and created man upon it:
I have made the heavens and earth, and created man.
Rejoice, rejoice, the Lord He is God. We are His people,
the sheep of His pasture. He has made us, and not we
ourselves. God, is the creator, God is the creator,
God is the creator. So rejoice.
Love

LISTEN:
Brood o’er us with Thy shelt’ring wing,
‘Neath which our spirits blend
Like brother birds, that soar and sing,
And on the same branch bend.
The arrow that doth wound the dove
Darts not from those who watch and love.
If thou the bending reed wouldst break
By thought or word unkind,
Pray that his spirit you partake,
Who loved and healed mankind:
Seek holy thoughts and heavenly strain,
That make men one in love remain.
Learn, too, that wisdom’s rod is given
For faith to kiss, and know;
That greetings glorious from high heaven,
Whence joys supernal flow,
Come from that Love, divinely near,
Which chastens pride and earth-born fear,
Through God, who gave that word of might
Which swelled creation’s lay:
“Let there be light, and there was light.”
What chased the clouds away?
‘Twas Love whose finger traced aloud
A bow of promise on the cloud.
Thou to whose power our hope we give,
Free us from human strife.
Fed by Thy love divine we live,
For Love alone is Life;
And life most sweet, as heart to heart
Speaks kindly when we meet and part.
Love one another
Music B. Goldsmith. Words The Bible. © 1982
LISTEN:
Beloved let us love one another: for Love is
God; and he who loves is born of Him. But he
who loves not knows not the Father; for God is
Love.
You have heard it said to you, love your
neighbour, love your neighbour, hate your enemy.
But this I say to you, love your enemy, bless
those that curse you, do good, do good to them
that hate you. Pray for them which despitefully
use you, that you may be the child of God.
So let us love one another: for Love is God,
and he who loves is born of Him. But he
who loves not knows not the Father; for God is
Love. So let us love. So let us love.
Keep My Commandments

LISTEN:
Jesus said if you love me, keep my commandments.
Jesus said, Jesus said, if you love me, keep
my commandments.
Heal the sick, and raise the dead, cleanse the
lepers, cast out devils. Love your neighbour as
yourself; freely you have received, freely give.
For if you continue in my word, then are you my
disciples. So heal the sick, and raise the dead,
cleanse the lepers, cast out devils. Love your
neighbour as yourself; freely you have received,
freely give.
Jesus said, if you love me, keep my commandments.
Christmas Message

LISTEN:
O Bethlehem Ephratah, though you were
small among the thousands, yet out of you
did one come forth born to be our Saviour,
born to be our Saviour.
O blessed day of Christ’s appearing,
the angels sang of peace and goodwill
unto men. To those who seek, the star
is guiding; leading them on to where the Christ is found.
Though many years have passed since Jesus’ birth
his words and deeds live in our hearts today.
The saving Christ is present still,
to help and heal and wipe all tears away.
The Saviour’s message speaks of Truth and Life,
telling of God’s love to all mankind.
To those who hear the Christ with in,
the blessings of Christmas find.
To those who hear the Christ with in,
the blessings of Christmas find.
Communion Hymn
Music B. Goldsmith. Words Mary Baker Eddy. © 1982
LISTEN:
Saw ye my Saviour? Heard ye the glad sound?
Felt ye the power of the Word?
‘Twas the Truth that made us free,
And was found by you and me
In the life and the love of our Lord.
Mourner, it calls you, — “Come to my bosom,
Love wipes your tears all away,
And will lift the shade of gloom,
And for you make radiant room
Midst the glories of one endless day.”
Sinner, it calls you, — “Come to this fountain,
Cleanse the foul senses within;
‘Tis the Spirit that makes pure,
That exalts thee, and will cure
All thy sorrow and sickness and sin.”
Strongest deliverer, friend of the friendless,
Life of all being divine:
Thou the Christ, and not the creed;
Thou the Truth in thought and deed;
Thou the water, the bread, and the wine.
Go ye into all the world

Music score:
Go Ye Into All the World-Goldsmith
Go ye into all the world. Preach the gospel,
heal the sick, love thy neighbour as thyself.
Go ye into all the world.
Go ye into the world, and share the gospel
of Truth and Love. Show that Christ still
heals the sick, the lame, and makes the blind
to see. Show that man is the child of God,
perfect, upright, whole. Jesus said, go with
this message of Truth, into all the world.
Go ye into the world, and share the gospel
of Truth and Love. Show that Christ still
helps the lost, the poor, and cares for those
in need. Show that man is the child of God,
patient, loving, kind. Jesus said, go with
this message of Love, into all the world.
Go ye into the world, and share the gospel
of Truth and Love. Show that Christ still
brings eternal life, comforting those that
mourn. Show that man is the child of God,
deathless, sinless, free. Jesus said, go with
this message of Truth, into the world.
Love never fails

Music score:
Love Never Fails-Goldsmith
My little children, let us not love in word, but let us love in deed, and in truth.
So if your enemy hunger, feed him; if he thirst, give him drink.
For we must show love to those we meet, or else how can we love God.
Love will give and love will share; love will cherish, love will care.
Love will someone’s burden bear. Never failing love.
Though I speak with the tongue of men and of angels, and have not love,
I am become as sounding brass, or a tinkling cymbal.
Love will comfort, love will heal; love will true compassion feel,
love with patience will reveal never failing love.
Though I have the gift of prophecy, and all knowledge understand;
if I have not love I am nothing.
Love is kind and suffers long; love is meek and thinks no wrong. Love is gentle, pure
and strong. Never failing love. Never failing love.
