Beverly’s path to becoming a Christian Science Practitioner and Teacher.
While a young teenager, Beverly’s mother and grandmother were healed of chronic ailments by reading Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures by Mary Baker Eddy. She also read the book, and was permanently healed of migraine headaches. Since then she’s relied exclusively on the system of Christian Science healing prayer.
Prior to becoming a Christian Science practitioner and teacher, Beverly had a successful singing career with her brother as the vocal instrumental duo “The Temple Two” which included 133 shows for US troops in the Vietnam War. Later, she taught high school music and drama. Beverly left the music field to devote her life to helping others find spiritual solutions through her healing practice and teaching an annual class on Mary Baker Eddy’s system of prayer-based healing outlined in her book Science and Health.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS:
– Why is it called Christian Science?
Christian Science is the title that Mary Baker Eddy gave to the spiritual system of prayer-based healing she discovered. She chose “Christian” because it’s based on the teachings and healing works of Christ Jesus, and “Science” because the laws of God, when systematically applied to any situation, bring about practical results.
Christian Science is not Scientology, which was founded by L. Ron Hubbard.
– Is Christian Science a spiritual system of prayer-based health care, and a religion?
Yes. It’s a system of spiritually-based health care that is studied and practiced by people of all walks of life. And it’s a Christian religion in the sense that there is a church—the Church of Christ, Scientist—that supports the practice of Christian Science healing throughout the world.
– Who is Mary Baker Eddy?
Mary Baker Eddy (1821–1910) was an influential author, teacher, and religious leader, noted for her ground-breaking ideas about spirituality and health, which she named Christian Science. She articulated those ideas in her major work, Science and Health with Key to the Scriptures, first published in 1875.
You can explore this book whose ideas have been improving the health and changing the lives of people around the world for over 140 years. Buy, read or listen to the book online.
– Is Christian Science faith healing?
No, if by faith healing you mean that the result of prayer, good or bad, is the will of God. It is not God’s will for anyone to suffer or be sick. God wants each individual to live a happy, healthy life.
– Are Christian Scientists free to seek medical treatment?
Yes. While many Christian Scientists have consistently found this prayer-based system of healing to be a reliable means of health care, they are free to make their own decisions and health choices.
– What do Christian Scientists mean when they talk about healing through prayer?
Prayer in Christian Science is rooted in the nature of God as good and in each individual’s relationship to God. Healing prayer, whether it relates to physical or mental well-being, is based on the understanding that God loves and cares for everyone. Every human need is met by divine Love.
